Here is poem # 13 for the
poetry pledge drive. I'd started on another poem that was never going to be done today, so, in desperation, I turned to the
haiku again because I knew I could churn one out quickly. I'd like to say I won't make a habit of it, . . .but I've got 18 more posts to go (
I'm not even at the halfway mark yet!), so I'm not making any promises.

The neighbor's fence slats give way
When the sun insists.
